Staff Editorial: Publicity for Ludacris lacking

There was a noticeable lack of a non-student presence at Cameron,a fact that Duke University Union officials attribute to a lack of effective advertising in high-traffic areas in greater Durham and at neighboring universities. An artist like Ludacris has a wide-ranging appeal, and had the Union focused more on publicizin the event, many more Durham residents and other school's students would certainly have been in attendance. In the future, the Union should focus on publicizing the event off-campus, consulting with advertising offices and Durham officials if necessary.

In addition, students across the Triangle area would benefit from greater communication between student groups at different colleges. The Union should make efforts to publicize Duke campus events at other institutions, and direct students to web links that list other schools' events.
