Towerview booth to be manned
The booth at the Towerview Road traffic circle will now be manned as an information kiosk, Director of Parking and Transportation Services Cathy Reeve announced. Visitors seeking information about directions or University events can now approach either the Towerview Road booth or the information desk in the Bryan Center.
Towerview Road was repaved last summer and a traffic circle and signal were put in to make that part of West Campus more pedestrian-friendly.
Ridge joins Coach K conference
Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge has announced that he will be participating in the second annual Coach K and Fuqua School of Business Conference on Leadership, to be held Oct. 19 through Oct. 21.
Ridge joins a group of 23 speakers who have committed to the event, including CNN news anchor Lou Dobbs, former NBA All-Star David Robinson and Pricewaterhouse Coopers President James Donald.
"We will be even more focused this year than last on what it takes to be a leader in the board room, on the court or wherever you are called on to lead," said men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski in a statement. "People coming to Duke will not only learn from an array of proven leaders but also network with each other to become better leaders."
PMAC educates students on C2K nuances
The Pre-Major Advising Center has created a quiz for undergraduates on Curriculum 2000 whereby they can see whether they are sufficiently informed about the ins and outs of the matrix.
Curriculum 2000 is currently being discussed by a committee headed by biology professor Steve Nowicki. The committee will report its findings and suggest possible modifications to Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences William Chafe by the end of the fall semester.
