Two caught sleeping in BC
At 4:29 a.m. Sept. 15, a Duke officer responded to the Bryan Center in reference to two individuals sleeping. Roderick Leroy Baskett, born Oct. 26. 1972, of 726 Felician Street, was charged with trespassing after being forbidden to be on University property. He was given a court date of Oct. 16. Baskett could not be reached for comment. The second individual was issued a trespassing warning.
Items stolen from gym bag
A student reported that between the hours of 4 p.m. and 4:50p.m. Sept. 17, he placed his gym bag containing his wallet on the Wilson Recreation Center basketball floor. When he was done playing basketball he discovered that his wallet, containing $20 in cash, credit cards, a driver's license and a Social Security Card had been stolen from his gym bag.
Cars looted
An employee reported that between 7 a.m. Sept. 10 and 5 a.m. Sept. 15, while his vehicle was parked in the H parking lot at Anderson Street and Yearby Avenue, someone broke out a $150 window and caused $150 in damage to the dashboard. In addition, $4.50 in change, a $7.40 book of stamps, a $7 pair of sunglasses, $15 jumper cables in an Auto Zone plastic bag and wrench and socket set with a Sears logo on the boxes were stolen.
In a separate incident, an employee reported that between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Sept. 17, while his vehicle was parked on Highway 751 at Duke Forest gate 11, someone broke out a $100 window and stole his $100 black leather briefcase, his $30 wallet, $160 in cash, credit cards, two checkbooks, his $30 reading glasses, his driver's license and pairs of black dress pants valued at $40.
Tools nabbed
A construction worker reported that between the hours of 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17, someone entered the secured second floor of the Talent Identification Program building on 1121 West Main Street and stole his saws, drills and sander, all valued at $2,902.
Microwave whizzed away
An employee repored that at some time during the summer a $100 black microwave oven was stolen from the Ark Faculty Lounge.
Phones, money stolen
n employee reported that between the hours of 5 p.m. Sept. 16 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 17, someone entered her unlocked radiation oncology office in Duke Clinic, and stole $10 in cash and a white Avaya telephone and a tan Meridian telephone, both of unknown value.
Cars damaged
A student reported that between 10 p.m. Sept. 14 and 10:10 a.m. Sept. 15, someone shattered a $100 window to his vehicle while it was parked at 304 Anderson Street. Nothing was stolen.
In a separate incident, a student reported that between 4 p.m. Sept. 15 and noon Sept. 16, while his vehicle was parked in the Edens B lot, someone used a sharp object to inflict scratches on one of the doors, causing $400 in damage.
