Letter: Longoria, Collison best candidates for class presidents

Without a doubt, Jesse Longoria and Taylor Collison stand out as the best candidates for the posts of president of the class of 2006 and 2004, respectively. The qualities that these leaders embody are those necessary to be successful in the capacity of president. Both are extremely personable, approachable, recognizable and are in tune with what needs to be accomplished in those roles.

Longoria, a freshman, stands head and shoulders above the other candidates and has demonstrated the ability and the drive to connect with all members of his class during his time here at Duke. He is a great conversationalist and a man of action. There is no doubt in my mind that everything he would do as president would make life better for all rising sophomores. He has a true vision as how to best help his fellow classmates. He is the man for the job.

Collison, a junior, is an active member of this community. He has proven himself to be dedicated to the betterment of Duke's students and has a firm grasp on the complex issues that the Class of 2004 has faced and will face here at Duke. Collison understands the role of the class president and has novel ideas on how best to use that position in a constructive manner so that we can see and enjoy the actions of the class council. Collison is a successful programmer and organizer who will do his part to make senior year much more fun for all of us.

To the freshmen and juniors who read this letter, I urge you to cast your vote for Jesse Longoria and Taylor Collison. They will do great things for their classes.
