FILM: Best Trailer Ever

How do you milk two movies before they're even released?

Really cool trailers.

Enter The Animatrix, a series of nine animated short films that promise to answer some of the "questions," and set up the plot of, May's The Matrix: Reloaded.

The creators of The Matrix recruited some of Japan's best anime artists to bring life to the stories. While some of the shorts are traditional anime, last week's release, the nine-minute "Final Flight of the Osiris," is extremely sophisticated computer animation. "Flight" is so revolutionary, so brilliantly gorgeous, so human I quickly found myself wondering "is this real?"

A question that is only so appropriate for the The Matrix. "Flight" compliments the mystic brilliance of The Matrix through its ability to blend reality and fiction into a digital existence that is utterly impermeable to the typical questioning skeptic (unless you're a really big, unfun dork).

While four of the trailers will be previewed online, some of the remaining five will most likely be tacked onto some of spring's most atrocious movies - like last week's Dreamcatcher.

Boosted ticket sales not enough? The series will be released on DVD in June.
