In honor of Youth Day tomorrow afternoon at Wallace Wade Stadium, NFL running back Mercury Morris will speak at 11:30 a.m. at the Stadium.
Morris spent seven years with the Miami Dolphins and one with the San Diego Chargers from 1969-1976. He rushed for 4,133 yards and scored 35 touchdowns, earning All-Pro honors in 1971 and '72.
Morris joined Larry Csonka in 1972 as the first backfield tandem in NFL history to each rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. That was the same year the Dolphins became the only team to go undefeated for the whole season.
He is currently an active speaker and lecturer who is involved with former teammate, Dick Anderson, in the Energy Management field, helping large entities conserve power.
