The top-ranked women's golf team lived up to its billing this weekend as it advanced to the finals of the 1997 Rolex Match Play Team Championships. Duke will face No. 2 Arizona today in the championship match at the par 74, 6,008-yard Raymond Floyd Golf Course at Doral in Miami.
The Blue Devils advanced to the final round with a 3-2 win over No. 7 Louisiana State Sunday. Duke's Jenny Chuasiriporn, the nation's No. 1 player, defeated the Tigers' Lisette Lee 5&4 while juniors Filippa Hansson and Amanda Loewen both won their individual matches as well.
Chuasiriporn also led the Blue Devils to an opening round win over San Jose State. All five Duke players won on Saturday including Chuasiriporn, Hansson, Loewen, senior Alicia Allison and freshman Kalen Anderson.
Duke finished fourth in last year's Rolex Championships in La Quinta, Calif.
