The SoHo at Duke IV.: In Search of Self opening lecture and artist gallery talk were great successes. Over 400 students came to the museum to see the work of artists of our generation. Never before have so many students expressed enthusiasm about coming to the museum.
In response to the Duke students' interest in this exhibition, museum director Michael Mezzatesta came to us, as the student curators, with a proposal. The museum is prepared to purchase one or more works from the SoHo show and they want student input. University museums rarely involve students in the acquisition of works of art.
This is your opportunity to select work by our generation for our permanent collection. Beginning Monday, April 12, DUMA will conduct an informal poll, allowing students to fill out a ballot. Works available for purchase will be indicated by a yellow dot.
We encourage everyone to come to the museum, look at the pieces and to vote. Just express yourself!
