Speaking of BioBanks and the idea of getting scientists to publish all results - don't most grants (NIH, others?) work in this manner? It's unfortunate that other types of repositories do not require such sharing of information, and it's becoming more important to be able to access such rarer tissue lines. For instance, systems biology research in oncogenesis can now distinguish fairly well and accurately between different types of tumors and their pathogenesis based on pathway signatures. It would be nice to be able to conduct such research on a larger scale as to identify potential treatments, and of course, such a repository would be quite beneficial.
(btw, Cami, do you get an email or notification when someone comments on an Op-Ed online?)
