Can somebody please tell me why Andre Dawkins was on the bench for the ENTIRE game? This was inexcusable, especially during the last 10 minutes where the game was well in hand. Here's a kid who game up his precious senior year in high school and this is the way he's treated? By riding the bench when we're up by 20?

Does Coach K have any compassion towards anyone who lost their sister a couple months back? I'm no therapist but I'm sure that actually playing basketball may help him out of his understandable slump both with regards to his emotional recovery and shooting the 3.

If I were Andre I would seriously consider transferring just like countless other forme Duke freshmen who should've played more and are doing so at other programs like Villanova, Arizona State, and Nevada. And make Duke repay him for "teasing" him to come out of high school early to "help" them out!

I agree. Coach K leaves the starters in long after the game is won. Maybe it is for conditioning for times they need to pay 40 minutes. But he needs to see the big picture of keeping freshmen from transferring.

remmik ~ You're totally correct.....Coach is going to do with his team as he pleases.
You don't know what's going on....with these players.
So accept that Coach is putting the best team on the floor....with players deserving to be on the floor.
If I were you I would seriously consider pulling for Cryolina.....that way you could complain about their Coach.....like all the UNC fans do.
BTW...Andre contacted Duke about coming to school early.....not the way you claim.

Not only affects current players but also potential recruits. Who wants to sit on the bench even when the game is basically over. This has been K's approach for some time and why we continually bomb in March. We can't land a decent inside player because they need time to develop and they see they won't get it at Duke.

McLean - I hope you're right that Andre contacted Duke about coming to school early. If that is then my entire premise is wrong. It just seems like it would be the other way around since senior year for lots of teens is a pretty memorable experience.

And I agree that Coach K will put on the best team on the floor. Though I'm talking about the last few minutes when you're up by 18 which are more or less meaningless except for others to get some more playing time.

And I know it's not Coach K's job to totally heal Andre's emotional recovery with regards to his sister. But c'mon, how would you feel if your minutes started to get significantly cut around the time it happened!

Anyways, though it may not always seem like it I'm definitely a Duke alumnus/fan. But like a lot of others I do care more about the players themselves than I do about the Coach.

remmik ~ I appreciate your comments.

We want kids at Duke that are thick skinned and willing/capable to learn the system. Any recruit should know this coming in. BTW....I saw Andre smile yesterday at the BC game....more than once.

Looking forward to the MARYland/Tar game today!
