"we’re all going to talk, and that’s the best I can do.” This quote sums up the administrations decision making process: lip service. Zoila Airall has recently been embroiled in the controvsery regarding the merging of the International House and the MCC, where students have since complained about a lack of a voice.

"Jen Frank, assistant director of accommodations for RLHS, said the Campus Council Executive Committee worked with RLHS to design the menu for SLGs." So this sentence says she is a part of RLHS and she worked with other RLHS members in designing SLG section...shocking. Who else did RLHS work with? Any student groups? IFC?

sb

observingduke, take a closer look at the sentence.

the campus council executive committee is a student group. (in case you are just very out of the loop and only read the chronicle when your group performed abysmally in a three-year housing reassignment process, campus council the student-run residential governing body with representatives from every quad).

*campus council IS the student-run residential governing body.

oh oops about the second comment (perhaps I shouldn't read tis at 4in the morning)...still section selection is dissatisfactory to most SLGs

sb

its dissatisfactory to an incredibly loud minority.

let me remind you that 70 percent of people living on campus are independents and that although they are not organized enough to make as big of a deal as the IFC currently is, they deserve some form of representation.

Just give fraternities real houses on the "new campus" or whatever the central campus is supposed to turn into.

Sections are retarded. No stakeholders like them. Houses work great at every university. This way parties are still on campus, but will not have to worry about common room rights and disturbing nearby independent residents.

As for the comment on how women don't have housing, THEY DON'T WANT IT. Sororities are very superficial at Duke. Most girls I know that are greek don't even know the girls in their sorority that well, and block with their real friends that are a mix of independents and other chapters. Bringing up women's housing into this is like people still bringing up how Obama has not shown his birth certificate.
