The opinions in the daily editorial are formulated by a panel comprising the editor-in-chief, the editorial page editor, an editorial page managing editor, and 10 members of the undergraduate community selected through an application process.
The 14 members of the editorial board have diverse interests and an immense depth of knowledge about the University and the local community. The editorials are anonymously written by one member present at the meeting.
In an effort to be transparent, names and biographies of the members formulating the opinion are posted below.
Members of the 2009-2010 Editorial Board:
Michael Blake, Editorial Board Chair

Michael Blake is a Trinity senior from Buffalo, N.Y and the chair of the Editorial Board. He is a history major with a focus on South Africa and the U.S. South. Aside from working as a Resident Assistant on West Campus, Michael is also a member of the DukeEngage Student Advisory Committee, a lector with the Newman Catholic Student Center, and a student tutor at the Durham Nativity School. He is very interested in Duke history and campus culture, and he has spent the past two summers volunteering at the District Six Museum in Cape Town, South Africa. Currently, Michael is working on his senior history thesis focusing on the origins of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Will Robinson, Editor-in-Chief and Ex-officio Nonvoting Member

Will Robinson is the Editor of The Chronicle and President of the Duke Student Publishing Company. Will is a North Carolina native from nearby Greensboro, and he is an enthusiast of the state's culture and culinary offerings. A public policy major, he enjoys discussing politics almost as much as he loves to talk sports. Will served as editor of The Chronicle's recently renamed Local and National department. He is also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Will has been a Dukie since birth due to the upbringing of his father, Trinity '81, and despite the influence of his mother and brother, current and future UNC alums. Will's grandmother Sally Robinson, Woman?s College ?55, served on the Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2004 and was co-chair of the Financial Aid Development Committee. His grandfather Russell Robinson is chair of the Charlotte-based Duke Endowment.
Shuchi Parikh, Editorial Page Editor

Shuchi Parikh is a Trinity senior from Raleigh, NC. She is currently editorial page editor and previously served as news editor and university editor. A public policy major and candidate for the global health certificate, her academic interests include economic and social development. She participated in the Global Health FOCUS program and has worked as a research assistant in the Health Inequalities Program. Parikh is a member of Lasya, Duke's Indian classical dance team, and enjoys watching Hitchcock films and eating Thai food. She spent the summer working with an NGO in Pune, India on a project on child undernutrition.
Austin Boehm, Editorial Page Managing Editor

Austin Boehm is a Trinity senior from Mahopac, NY. He will complete his degree in political science, concentrating in political theory. For the past two years, he has served as an Editorial Page Managing Editor for the Chronicle, and was a member of the Editorial Board in its ?08-?09 cycle. On campus, he is the vice-archon of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, serves on the Student Conduct Advisory Board, is a consultant for the MPS Studio, and works for goDuke.com. This past summer, Austin worked on Capitol Hill as a communications and lobbying intern as a part of the Duke Stanback Memorial Fellowship program. Beyond politics and attending all men?s basketball games, Austin enjoys wiffleball, intramurals, rooting for the Yankees and most anything involving sports. His other interests include music, film, technology, social media and life in general. He looks forward to meeting you.
Chelsea Allison, Ex-officio Nonvoting Member

Chelsea Allison is co-Editor of Towerview Magazine and Editor Emerita of The Chronicle. A native Charlottean, she will graduate in May 2010 with a degree in English and a certificate in Policy Journalism and Media Studies. This summer, she interned at Vogue magazine in Manhattan and she intends to pursue a career in publishing after graduation. In addition to serving as an ex-officio non-voting member of The Chronicle's independent editorial board this year, she is at work completing a thesis in poetry composition and is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
John Harpham, Editorial Board Member

John Harpham is a Trinity senior from New Orleans and Chapel Hill. He is the Earl W. Sasser Angier B. Duke Scholar. He is working toward a double major in French and Political Science, with a focus in Political Theory. He has served on The Chronicle's Independent Editorial Board since its inception in his freshman year, and as a junior he served as its Chair. He is the co-president of the Political Theory Colloqium and a member of Wayne Manor selective living group, the club baseball team, and the Angier B. Duke Scholarship Selection Committee.
Gabriela Borges, Editorial Board Member

Gabriela Borges is a senior from Australia, and is hoping to graduate with a double major in Economics and Math. During her earlier time at Duke, she has particularly enjoyed being VP of Programming for the Duke University Union and working as Director of Marketing for the International Association. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees Committee for Business and Finance and relaxes on the lake with the Duke Sailing team in her free time.
Alyssa Kuhn, Editorial Board Member

Alyssa Kuhn is a Trinity senior from Alexandria, Virginia. She is majoring in Public Policy and History with a focus on United States History and Social Policy. In addition to serving on the Editorial Board this year, she is involved in the development of the campus organization Purple, is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and enjoys giving admissions tours to prospective students. In previous summers, she has interned at the Brooklyn Arts Council exploring Arts Policy, volunteered at a nursery in a township outside of Cape Town and caged dived with Great White Sharks. She hopes to attend law school after graduation.
Chelsea Goldstein, Editorial Board Member

Chelsea Goldstein is a Trinity senior from Plano, Texas. She is a Political Science with a focus in International Relations and an Economics Minor. She is an active member of the Duke Debate team and was the Duke Student Government Vice President for Academic Affairs, where she helped to create the Fuqua Master's in Management Studies and helped to revise the underload and pass/fail policies. Chelsea is also involved in the Duke American Grand Strategy Program and the Duke Political Union. She spent last summer working in Washington, D.C. and hopes to work in politics after graduation.
Lucy McKinstry, Editorial Board Member

Lucy McKinstry is a Trinity senior from Lexington, Kentucky. She is a Political Science major and Economics minor. She has a specific interest in the impact of globalization on domestic legal systems, and hopes to study law after Duke. She is also a part of WISER and has spent time conducting an economic needs assessment in Muhuru Bay, Kenya. She is a Baldwin Scholar, former DSG vice president, and member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Dan Romero, Editorial Board Member

Dan Romero is a Trinity Senior from Providence, Rhode Island. This is his fourth year as a member of The Chronicle's Independent Editorial Board. He has also been a member of the Line Monitor Committee for the last three years. His personal interests include the Boston Red Sox, fly fishing, and T.S. Eliot.
Charles Colbert, Editorial Board Member

Charles Colbert is a Trinity senior from Maryland. He is double majoring in Political Science and African and African-American Studies. He has a wide range of academic interests, most of which converge on the health care industry. Charles is a former Director of Alumni and Graduate Affairs for the Black Student Alliance and still serves as a member of the organization. He is also a member of the Student Alumni Advisory Board and Africana Mentoring Program. He hopes to attend law and public health schools at some point in the future.
Christina Rosivack, Editorial Board Member

Christina Rosivack is a sophomore from New Jersey. She is majoring in Russian Language and Culture and pursuing a certificate in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. In her first year on the Independent Editorial Board, Christina also serves as co-music director of Deja Blue, an all-female a cappella group, is on the staff of the Duke Journal of Public Affairs, and works as a research assistant at the Fuqua School of Business. Her other interests include Kurt Vonnegut and pop culture.
Cory Adkins, Editorial Board Member

Cory Adkins is a Trinity freshman from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The lone freshman on the Independent Editorial Board, he is deeply interested in campus culture and student behavior. Although he aspires to double major in philosophy and literature, Cory’s interests are eclectic, and he knows no greater terror or joy than the sight of an unread book. A Benjamin N. Duke Scholar, he enjoys reading The New Yorker and pretending to understand literature in his free time.
