Two-sport athlete charged with DWI

Sophomore basketball and football player Reggie Love was charged with driving while impaired last November, according to The Herald-Sun of Durham. The charge appears unrelated to Love's suspension from the basketball team last weekend for what coach Mike Krzyzewski called a "violation of team rules."

The Herald-Sun reported that Love has a scheduled March 20 court date in his hometown of Charlotte for an incident that occurred on U.S. 74 Nov. 10, the football team's first open Saturday of the season. The paper also reported that Love registered a .06 blood alcohol level, according to a police report on file at the Charlotte office of the N.C. Highway Patrol; court records indicate that the 19-year-old was also charged with driving after consuming alcohol under the age of 21.

Love, who is on a football scholarship at Duke, was suspended Sunday from the basketball team and missed that day's game against North Carolina. Krzyzewski has said Love will also sit out this week's ACC Tournament and will return to play March 14 for the NCAA Tournament.

The Herald-Sun reported that Duke officials would not comment on the ties between Love's suspension and the pending DWI case.
