Overview: After suffering its worst season in program history in 2013, Boston College progressed last season under first-year head coach Jim Christian. But as the Eagles look to build off their momentum from a year ago, they will face a daunting challenge of replacing nearly half their team.

Boston College suffered a major blow this offseason when Olivier Hanlan decided to forego his senior season and entered the NBA draft. Hanlan was Boston College’s primary scorer and playmaker, averaging 19.5 points, 4.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. The Eagles will also miss sophomore forward Will Magarity—who transferred to Davidson—as well as guard Lonnie Jackson, who will complete his final year of eligibility at Boise State. Although Christian brought in Florida transfer Eli Carter—who averaged 8.8 points per game last season—and returns 7-foot center Dennis Clifford, he will likely rely on contributions from several freshmen, including former four-star recruit A.J. Turner.

One thing that needs to go right: Eli Carter can fill the void left by Hanlan and became a go-to scorer for the Eagles.

One thing that could go wrong: Boston College struggles to overcome its youth and lack of depth in a talented conference.
